Umera Ahmed (b. December 10, 1976) is a bestselling Pakistani author of over a dozen Urdu popular fiction novels and with over million copies of her works in print. She has won numerous best writer awards from some of the most prestigious media houses and organizations in Pakistan. Her most celebrated work that gave her international recognition and astounding success is Peer e Kamil (The Perfect Mentor). She is most known for her unorthodox approach towards some very sensitive issues in Pakistani society that deal with both the religion and culture of the country.
Two of her books have been translated in English: La Hasil ( Hollow Pursuits) and Peer e Kamil ( The Perfect Mentor). These books are available on the amazon website (http://www.amazon.com/Umera-Ahmed/e/B00FZJU7UY)
That first novel, ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’, was published in a women monthly digest, Khawateen in 1998. The novel gained instant popularity within the digest readership. The story dealt with some powerful women themes and contained a message that launched Umera Ahmed as a visionary writer. Her later works cemented this early diagnosis of her talent. Many of her works have been made into Pakistani Dramas

Thanks for the compilation.
We review a lot of her work here though personally I think her work needs a strong director to play on her richly observed nuances. In the hands of a lesser director, her work gets reduced to stereotypes and preachy posturing.
