Pisar means Son, Boy
This word has been used by poet Firaaq Gorakhpuri in a splendid poem. Given below is the poem and the translation.
Jugnu –Fireflies
( The poem depicts the feelings of a twenty year old boy who has lost his mother the day he was born) Meri Hayaat ne dekhi hain bees barsaaten, Mere Janan hi ke din mar gai thi maan meri. Twenty rains have come and gone, My mother died when I was born. Woh maan ke shakal bhi jis maan ki main na dekh saka, Jo aankh bhar ke mujhe dekh bhi na saki, woh maan. The mother whose face I cannot tell, Who hadnt seen my face full well. Main woh pisar hoon jo samjha nahin ke maan kya hai, Mujhe khilaaeon aur daaeon ne paala tha. A son bereft of mothers care, By maids and ayahs I was reared. Woh mujh se kahti theen jab gir ke aati barsaat, Jab asmaan mein har soo ghataaen chhati theen. They told me that in rainy nights, When clouds gather in the sky. Ba-waqt-e sham jab urte the har taraf jugnu, Dieye dikhate hain yeh bhooli- bhakti roohon ko. The glittering winging fireflies, Serve the spirits strayed as guides. Maza bhi aata tha mujh ko kuchh unki baaton mein, Main unki baaton mein rah rah ke bhi jaata tha. Their talk gave me great delight, I felt engrossed and lost, besides. Par uske saath hi dil mein kasak si hoti thi, Kabhi kabhi yeh kasak hook ban ke uthi thi. An ache in my heart did rise, Which made me heave a heavy sigh.
