Raghupati Sahay (28 August 1896 – 3 March 1982), better known under his pen name Firaq Gorakhpuri, was a writer, critic, and one of the most noted contemporary Urdu poets from India.

Firaq

Given below is one of his poems:

Phir bhi is din pe qayaamat ka gumaan hai jo tha.

Translation:
Beauty changed a hundred hues in the course of the night,
Love has had to wait and wait, as heretofore.
The day of union flies away in the twinkling of an eye,
Yet it looks like the day of doom, as heretofore.
The dark night of the burning heart seems to have no end,
The candle wears a crown of smoke, as heretofore.
