Did you know that urdu poet, lyricist and songwriter Majrooh Sultanpuri’s (1 October 1919 − 24 May 2000) career spanned over six decades?

Majrooh Saab started his film career with Shah Jehan in 1946. This film starring K.L.Sehgal was directed by Kardar and the music was scored by Naushad. The songs of the film became so immensely popular that K.L. Sehgal wanted ‘Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya’ to be played at his funeral.

Majrooh Saab’s ink never went dry as he continued to write until his last days. He captured the hearts of people over sixty years, twisting his style and adapting to the ever changing films and culture.
