We would like to honour and pay our respect to poet Akhlaq Mohammed Khan
(His Takhallus -pen name Shahryar) who passed away on the 13th of February 2012.
Amongst many merits, he has also written some beautiful lyrics for Hindi films such as Umrao Jaan(1981), Gaman(1978) and Anjuman(1986).
His popular oeuvre consists of lyrics from the film Umrao Jaan such as:
“Dil cheez kya hai”,
“In ankhon ki masti”,
In 2008 he won the Jnanpith Award, which is the highest literary award in India.
What a wonderful website. Please have some events in South Mumbai too. Also where can one learn Urdu in South Mumbai.?
